First day of preschool

IMG_20150627_152047First day of preschool:
Welcome to the Little Spats Preschool. The first day of preschool is a very exciting time for your child. They will be learning many new things over the course of this year. This can also be a very stressful time for your child. New situations and new environments can be unsettling for some children. This may be their first experience away from home.  Listed below are a few suggestions to help your child in this period of transition.

  • Talk to your child about going to preschool. Answer every question they may have to the best of your ability.
  • Be positive. Showing your child that you are happy about this new experience they will feel more comfortable as their first day of school gets closer.
  • Each child may bring something special from home. This can be a special stuffed toy or a blanket they may like to sleep with.
  • Have a morning routine and stick with it. This will give your child a sense of stability.
  • When saying ‘good-bye’ in the morning, be clear with your child when you will be back. Many children worry that they won’t see mommy or daddy again. They do not understand time as we do. Explaining that you will see them after rest time or after outdoor play will give them something concrete to relate time to.

If you have any questions please call me and we can discuss them. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year.

Sincerely,

Angie Garrett
